Julie Biuso's Sizzle Wins "Best Of The Best" At Gourmand Ceremony
Sizzle Named Best BBQ Book In the History of the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards
Julie Biuso, award-winning and best-selling cookbook author from New Zealand adds another award to her trophy case this week as her book SIZZLE:
SENSATIONAL BARBECUE FOOD was named the "best barbecue book in the history of the awards" by the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards on Tuesday,
October 14. The ceremony took place at the Frankfurt Opera House in Frankfurt, Germany at the start of the annual Frankfurt Book Fair.
Each year since 1995 the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards honors the best food books in the world. In 2007, more than 107 countries participated
and more than 6,000 books entered the competition. The 100 "Best of the Best" was chosen from those who had been honored in the 12 years since
the awards began. SIZZLE, originally published in New Zealand, won Best Barbecue Book in the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in 2006.
Biuso began her career at the Cordon Bleu School of Cookery in London and later became Principal of the franchised Cordon Bleu Cookery School
in New Zealand. She went on to open her own cooking school, La Dolce Vita, but eventually shifted gears to pursue her writing career. A frequent
guest on New Zealand news and talk shows, she is a well-recognized cooking personality in her home country and abroad. She is the author of 13
books, many of which have won international awards.
SIZZLE is not Biuso's only Gourmand winner. TAKE A VINE RIPENED TOMATO won the "Best Mediterranean Cookbook" category in 1999. DANCING ON MY
TABLE, PERSPECTIVES ON LIFE AND FOOD, won the award for "Best Food Literature in the World" at the Gourmand International Cookbook Awards in
Perigueux in 2001. FRESH was short-listed for "Best Photography" in the Gourmand International Cookbook Awards in 2000 (and subsequently won
the "Lifestyle" section in the Montana Book Awards in 2002). VIVA L'ITALIA won an award in 2002 for "Best Photography" in the Gourmand
International Cookbook Awards, and in 2007 Gourmand awarded Biuso a Special Prize of the Jury to mark her achievements in her career.
SIZZLE was published in the United States in April 2008. Since then Biuso has appeared on countless U.S. TV and radio shows, is currently
working on a new book deal and is in negotiations for several writing projects with national food and lifestyle publications. SIZZLE is
distributed throughout the U.S.
